Florida Concealed Weapon License Renewal: Fees and Timing
Renew through FDACS, check resident versus nonresident fees, and understand the expired-license window.
Check the expiration printed on your Florida license before choosing a renewal route. FDACS provides online, in-person and mail renewal options. A payment to a training or assistance website does not renew the government-issued license.
Check the renewal window
Florida licenses last seven years. FDACS says it sends renewal instructions approximately 95 days before expiration. Renewal is available for up to 180 days after expiration with a $15 late fee; after that, a new application is required. An expired license should not be treated as current merely because a late-renewal option remains available.
Put the expiration date in your calendar and review the official instructions early enough to resolve an address, identity or document issue. If a renewal notice has not arrived, use FDACS's renewal page rather than waiting until the last day.
Resident and nonresident fees differ
The official fee schedule lists $45 for a standard Florida-resident renewal and $87 for an out-of-state renewal, including fingerprint processing. An authorized tax collector may charge an additional convenience fee. Special categories have separate amounts; use the row that actually applies to you.
FDACS requires fingerprints for out-of-state renewals. Check the selected renewal route's instructions before arranging them so you do not pay for an unusable submission.
Prepare one complete submission
Review your name, address, license number, photo requirements and payment method. Keep any required name-change documentation together with the renewal materials. Save the confirmation or mailing record and a copy of the submission for your own files.
If you have already submitted or paid online, FDACS says the renewal cannot then be completed at a regional office or tax collector; contact the agency for further action. Avoid creating duplicate applications while trying to speed up processing.
Before your next trip
Renewal preserves the license process; it does not establish permission in every destination. Recheck recognition conditions, especially if your residence changed. A current card and a verified destination rule are different parts of travel preparation.
The RushPermit route described elsewhere on SafetyCCW concerns optional New Hampshire application assistance. Use FDACS for this Florida renewal.
